Acne Scar Treatment & RemovalDermatologists have developed several approaches to treating acne scars, or pockmarks, that do not heal on their own. The objective of scar treatment is to give the skin a more acceptable physical appearance. Moreover acne scar can sometime go on for ages, producing both physical and psychological acne scars . The scar treatments that are currently available include: Collagen injection. Collagen, a normal substance of the body, is injected under the skin to "stretch" and "fill out" certain types of superficial and deep soft scars. Collagen treatment usually does not work as well for ice-pick scars and keloids. Another scar removal approach involves collagen injections. Collagen, a protein, is a natural component of human tissue. When collagen is injected underneath the scar, it raises it to the level of the surrounding skin. For example, if the production of sebum increases or if dead cells clog up the openings of the glands, the flow of the sebum gets disturbed. The pores of acne scars get blocked and blackheads and whiteheads form. Later, red, swollen and inflamed pimples develop as the sebum spills into the surrounding tissue. These pimples of acne scars might even get infected. |
