Warts Information

Filed under: Health — Toni @ 4:07 pm

Warts are characterized by small, painless but contagious skin growths occurring usually on hands and feet. Looking like a cauliflower, they emerge as a result of human papilloma virus 2 and 7, the two particular types of viral infection. They may transmit from one person to the other through broken skin. Generally, they fade off on their own after a couple of days but may remain defined for a longer period of time.

There are different types of warts depending on the nature of their position on human body: plantar warts occur on the bottom of the foot; Flat warts usually surface in large numbers on the face, legs, hand and other parts of the body; Periungual warts take place under or around the nail; Filiform warts arise on the face as a single long stalk; Genital warts appear on genitalia; and Mosaic wart that emerge on the hands and soles of the feet in clustered forms.

Common and harmless warts create only cosmetic problems annoying the inflicted people. For common warts, the use of salicylic acid and freezing medication has long been regarded as the best result-oriented treatment options. One can treat his warts individually by purchasing over-the-counter-medications consisting of salicylic acid or freezing elements.

It is worth-mentioning here that keratin is the main factor which develops warts and dead skin cells that cover warts. To dissolve keratin, salicylic acid works a great deal. This acid is usually available in the form of drops, pads, and gels. They can be applied on different warts of different size. On the other hand, aerosol wart treatments available in the forms of sprays freeze the warts at as decreased temperature as 70 F.

It is also believed that warts can be suffocated by using non-breathing tapes, such as electrical tape or duct tape. After placing the tape over the warts for about one week, the warts are soaked in water and scraped with a pumice stone or emery board.

Apart from these over-the-counter-products, several prescribed medications are also used for warts treatment. Among them Imiquimod, Cantharidin, Dinitrochlorobenzene, Fluorouracil are some of the medicines applied directly on to the warts that not only stir up the natural immune system to fight the warts virus but also DNA synthesis in the virus-affected cells found in warts. Because of these characteristics, these medicines appear effective in removing common warts.

In case the traditional methods fail to yield results, the dermatologists use surgical treatments which include mainly curettage of the wart, laser treatment and infrared coagulator to remove the warts from the skin.

How Chelation Agents Work

Filed under: Health — Toni @ 6:44 am

The term chelation has diverse connotations. For nutrition and health, it is referred as chelation agents. And when it rinse off the poisonous materials from the body, it is termed as Chelation treatment. The exterior use of it is known as chelation agents. The most significant thing in this process is how the main Chelation agent which is EDTA, work within intestine to rinse off the poisonous metals and minerals. Chelation agent enters the blood stream and mixes with the minerals and metals and lastly getting together to remove them to clean the blood. There are two schools of opinion regarding the working mechanism of the Chelation agent. According to the first one EDTA mixes with the free radicals and energetic molecular particles which are supposed harmful and thus harm blood vessels. As per second one, Chelation agent mixes with some material similar to calcium and other as well.

EDTA is the major part of this therapy, be it oral or intravenous. Second theory includes that EDTA gets linked with calcium and other such minerals. It starts a mechanism which eventually improves the condition of blood vessels and cells. More over there are some facts that the practice of chelation is also useful in the cases of memory loss and cataract as the process cleanse the body and bloodstream of heavy toxic metals. Basically this process is a steady natural process. It includes quite a few body processes involving development of vitamins enzymes and hormones applying the same chelation process. The difference between the natural chelation process and the chelation therapy relation process is that some helpful substances are formed and assimilated in the natural chelation while in chelation therapy unnecessary toxic substances are eliminated from the body.

Treatment for Acne Scars

Filed under: Acne — Toni @ 5:38 pm

Acne scars arise when spots become irritated or don’t cure properly. Acne scars form wherever acne progress to the point of injuring our tissue. These injuries emerge as an inflammatory response to sebaceous follicles becoming plugged with oils, bacteria and dead cells. There are two types of acne scars: pigmented scars, that leave tardily a purplish-brown mark once the blemish goes away, and ice pick scars, which leave small holes in the skin. An average whitehead isn’t possibly to cause a scar because it normally doesn’t become inflamed. Picking at spots increases the probability of scarring as it can introduce bacteria, causing an infection.

Pigmented acne scars consequence from pigmented cells that expand in stains as they heal. Darker-skinned women are more flat to this type of scarring because their skin already has a major amount of pigment in it. Acne scarring is eternal but can be treated. Treatment of scarring may require several different kinds of treatments, depending on the kind of scarring existent. Treatment of acne scarring can be costly and may not be covered by insurance. It is essential that all the acne is clear before treating scarring. Over-the-counter or prescription creams, ointments or gels products may be used to treat scars.

Treatments can comprise corticosteroids or definite antihistamine creams for scars that cause itching and are really sensitive. Chemical peels advance and even the texture of the facial skin using a chemical result that causes the skin to blister and eventually peel off. Chemical peels produce controlled injury to the skin that helps the growth of fresh skin with an advanced appearance. Several different chemicals are used including glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid, “Jessners” solution, and phenol. Subcision is used for atrophic scarring.

Local anesthesia is employed and a needle is then put in under the scar and squashy moved underneath the skin to let go the scar tissue. This way has been tested in current studies and shown to be helpful. Subcision is a process used to cure deep rolling scars left behind by acne or other skin diseases. The best method to stop post-inflammatory changes caused by acne is to prevent acne lesions from happening. For deep ice pick scars, useful treatment is total removal of the scar. A little, round, cookie-cutter-like device (called a punch) is used to cut out the scar and the edges of the wound are then sewn together with a suture.

Face Care

Filed under: Beauty — Toni @ 1:30 pm

Healthy and supple skin is not so much of a dream if you take proper precautions and pay attention to your diet and exercise. Balanced diet, hydration and protecting from sun and wind should be a part of your daily regimen. The skin has several basic needs. First, it needs to be kept as clean as possible. Second, the skin needs to be protected from sunlight and other environmental insults. The skin of the face needs even more attention than the rest of the body because the face has more oil glands, especially the central forehead, eye areas, nose and chin. Cleansing is quite essential to avoid acnes and other skin problems.

Wash your skin often using a mild face wash and wipe off with a clean washcloth. It is quite important to get rid of any impurities such as dirt particles and makeup before going to sleep so that your skin can breathe properly at night. Use mild cleanser at least twice a day but make sure that it rinses away easily. Toning the skin helps remove any residual cleanser or make-up that may have been left behind. A toner also helps restore the natural pH level of the skin, leaves your skin clean, clear and ready to be hydrated. Apply a moisturizer. A moisturizer leaves the skin feeling softer and smoother. It also helps smooth away fine lines and dryness.

A sunscreen can be applied on top of the moisturizer. Acne is a common problem faced by almost all teen-agers and youth. Acne is actually caused because of hormone imbalance. There are lots of over the counter creams, gels, lotions and potions. Most contain a powerful bleaching agent called benzoyl peroxide helpful against acne. Alpha hydroxy acid applied daily will help prevent acne out breaks if you have acne prone skin. Sensitive skins may be allergic to products like soaps and soap-like formulations. Dyes, formaldehyde (released in the finishing process. Cosmetics can also cause allergy to your skin.

Use proper brush for the particular product that you use because using wrong brush also causes skin irritation. For most makeup, use natural-hair brushes for easiest and best application. The most important thing that you can do for your facial skin is to avoid sunlight or use liberal amounts of sunscreen. Sunlight causes the skin to age and causes skin cancer which is the most common malignancy in humans. Never go to bed with your make-up on. Wash hands before applying cosmetics, especially to your eyes because your hands contain bacteria that could cause infection to the eye.

Acne Diet

Filed under: Acne — Toni @ 7:00 am

Previously, acne patients were as a rule advised to avoid eating oily and fried foods. In some persons ingestion of chocolates and some other similar food items was believed to lead to aggravation of acne.

Recently, however, it has been realised that the sebaceous gland is a secretory gland and not an excretory gland, which means that it can manufacture all its ingredients for secretion from the basic components available in the blood. It does not require the preformed components to be present in the blood for excretion to the surface of the skin.

Some people try to clean their skin with household products, such as besan (gram flour), aata (wheat flour) or other similar agents. These particulate substances have the capacity to absorb the oil from the skin in the same manner as talcum powder is used for drying the skin. The use of besan, aataor other similar products was prevalent before the soaps had been invented. In the present circumstances however, it seems a social crime to waste edible products for cleaning the skin when there is such a severe shortage of foodstuffs all over the world.

Most such people who use eatable materials take refuge in the thought that they are using only a few grams of the agent, but fail to realise that even 10gm of the flour per day by a thousand such persons amounts to a loss of 10kg of the product per day and 3,650 kg per year. One can easily calculate the number of people who would go hungry because of this loss. In any case, the powdery materials are far inferior in their cleaning efficacy compated to the simple soap and water.

Therefore, it does not matter whether the oils and fats are low or high in the blood; the sebaceous gland can manufacture its own fats and release them to the surface of the skin. Thus, food has no role to play in the causation or aggravation of acne.
