Face Care
Wednesday, February 6th, 2008Healthy and supple skin is not so much of a dream if you take proper precautions and pay attention to your diet and exercise. Balanced diet, hydration and protecting from sun and wind should be a part of your daily regimen. The skin has several basic needs. First, it needs to be kept as clean as possible. Second, the skin needs to be protected from sunlight and other environmental insults. The skin of the face needs even more attention than the rest of the body because the face has more oil glands, especially the central forehead, eye areas, nose and chin. Cleansing is quite essential to avoid acnes and other skin problems.
Wash your skin often using a mild face wash and wipe off with a clean washcloth. It is quite important to get rid of any impurities such as dirt particles and makeup before going to sleep so that your skin can breathe properly at night. Use mild cleanser at least twice a day but make sure that it rinses away easily. Toning the skin helps remove any residual cleanser or make-up that may have been left behind. A toner also helps restore the natural pH level of the skin, leaves your skin clean, clear and ready to be hydrated. Apply a moisturizer. A moisturizer leaves the skin feeling softer and smoother. It also helps smooth away fine lines and dryness.
A sunscreen can be applied on top of the moisturizer. Acne is a common problem faced by almost all teen-agers and youth. Acne is actually caused because of hormone imbalance. There are lots of over the counter creams, gels, lotions and potions. Most contain a powerful bleaching agent called benzoyl peroxide helpful against acne. Alpha hydroxy acid applied daily will help prevent acne out breaks if you have acne prone skin. Sensitive skins may be allergic to products like soaps and soap-like formulations. Dyes, formaldehyde (released in the finishing process. Cosmetics can also cause allergy to your skin.
Use proper brush for the particular product that you use because using wrong brush also causes skin irritation. For most makeup, use natural-hair brushes for easiest and best application. The most important thing that you can do for your facial skin is to avoid sunlight or use liberal amounts of sunscreen. Sunlight causes the skin to age and causes skin cancer which is the most common malignancy in humans. Never go to bed with your make-up on. Wash hands before applying cosmetics, especially to your eyes because your hands contain bacteria that could cause infection to the eye.
