Darier's Disease Information

Darier's Disease was firstly disovered by a french dermatologist Ferdinand Jean Darier .It is slowly progressive autosomal dominant disorder of keratinization characterized by pinkish-to-tan papules that coalesce to form plaques. These lesions become darker over time and commonly fuse, forming papillomatous and warty malodorous growths. This disease is listed as " rare disease" by the Office of Rare Diseases (ORD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). as it affects less than 200,000 people in the US population. It runs in certain families, being inherited in a pattern known as 'dominant inheritance' - which means that there is a 1 in 2 (50:50) chance that each child of an affected parent will inherit the problem.  

Causes of Darier's Disease

Following are the causes of darier's disease:

1)The main cause of the Darier's Disease is defective gene .

2)Family history or hereditary

3) environmental factors affect the expression of Darier's disease

4) heat, humidity, and exposure to sunlight might also effect for rashes with darier

Treatment of Darier's Disease

Following are the treatment measures for Darier's disease:

  • Cleansing the skin with a mild antibacterial soap
  • Vaseline Intensive Care Dry Skin Lotion with Vitamins A and E
  • photodynamic therapy.
